For Saline- filled implants:
- Scars in the areola and breast fold are ususally ¾ to 1“ (2 to 2.5cm) long
- Scars in the armpit or belly button are usually 1 to 1 ½ “ (2.5 to 4 cm) long.
For Silicone –filled implants:
- Scars in the areola or breast fold are usually 2” (5 cm) long
- Scars in the armpit are usually 2 to 3” ( 5 to 7.5 cm ) long
- Silicone implants cannot be placed through a belly button incision
- Only smaller silicone implants can be placed through an armpit incision.

Though this scars might be present, these scars can be treated by some topical creams for proper healing.
I agree. The single most important element in a fine scar is the technique used for closure, however various treatments are available to improve the appearance of even the best-healed incisions. Our scar treatment protocol includes silicone sheeting and application of local products for one to three months to control scar formation.
Is this scars a common case in breast augmentation surgery? My cousin did this, but she didn’t mentioned about that.
Thank you for your question:
Very small scars are common with breast augmentation surgery. They are usually placed in the areola, in the breast fold, or the armpit. The TUBA technique uses a scar in the belly button. The incisions usually heal very well and the scars are approximately one inch (2.5 cm) long.
