Too much for too long: we can help!
Women and men with excess breast tissue may opt for a breast reduction. Non-surgical treatments have not produced successfull and long lasting outcomes, so we recommend safe and predictable surgical treatment for shapely and aesthetically pleasing results for many years.
Experience with all breast reduction procedures
Dr. Diana has extensive experience with hundreds of breast reduction procedures and was one of the pioneers in introducing reduced scars breast reduction to central Texas, having served on Plastic Surgery panels and presented his experience to other surgeons since 2000.
Many surgery options are available: let us help you make your decision
Traditional Breast Reduction
Dr. Diana is an expert in reduced and minimal scar breast reduction techniques, having presented his work with reduced scar technique in plastic surgery meetings starting in 2000! Multiple options are available in the traditional breast reduction, and the recovery is only a few days to a week for most patients.
With the traditional breast reduction techniques the breast is reduced and made rounder, the nipple is repositioned higher by removing some breast tissue and some of the breast skin. These techniques will leave scars that encircle the areola, extend from the areola to the bottom of the breast and may also go across the breast fold.
Liposuction only -”Scarless” Breast Reduction
In particular, liposuction-only breast reduction or “scarless” technique (some tiny scars are formed – read more about it here) is a technique that has gained more acceptance in both male and female breast reduction in the last ten years.
Liposuction-only breast reduction may not be applicable to all patients, in particular those with a significant amount of breast sag, as the shrinking and up-lifting that may be seen after the reduction may not be sufficient and therefore require a breast lift as a second procedure.
Ideal candidates for liposuction only breast reduction are patients whose breast are more fatty than glandular and have little breast sag. Patients with more breast sag may benefit from another technique for breast reduction like the Anchor or Vertical breast reduction procedures.
One or more small (1/4″ or so”) incisions are placed around the breast. The breast is then treated with a water solution designed to help with the fat removal. The tissue is the removed with a combination of small tubes and/or laser treatment, leading to a smaller breast size. The traditional scars around the areola, to the breast fold and across the breast are avoided, hence the term “Scarless” even though some tiny scars are present.
The official opinion on liposuction of the breast
(Exerpt from Patient Advisory – ASAPS)
“Because of the possibility for any woman to develop breast cancer, it is advised that women undergoing lipoplasty of the breast continue with mammographic examinations according to the guidelines of the American Cancer Society. There is no evidence that the use of liposuction for breast reduction either causes or interferes with the detection of breast cancer.”
